So, we are facing a mental health crisis in the western world. As a former soldier I have seen many of my colleagues fall victim to mental health injuries. For many they are able to cope with continued service to Canada despite ongoing pain and difficulty and for many more they have had to step back from service. By no means are soldiers alone in their pursuit of healing through mental health services. There is no indignity in falling victim to emotional and mental injury, but few have found healing with the world's answers. At best, most can find distraction from activities, numbness from medication, and disciplines to cope with injury with minimal harm.
